Talking as fast as I can…

Title: Talking as Fast as I can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls, and Everything in Between

Author: Lauren Graham

Currently Listening to: A Lovely Night, La La Land

as always, if you click on the book it will bring you to Barnes and Noble

I don’t normally read books by actors or actresses. This is actually my second one ever after Amy Poehler’s book from a year or so go but there was so much Gilmore Girls hype at the time that I couldn’t not read this. Lauren Graham is one of the stars of Gilmore Girls, this book came out about a week after the new 4- episode season. I bought it because I like Lauren Graham not because I like Gilmore Girls, just want to put that out there.

Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls (and Everything in Between)

The book dives into Lauren Graham’s life at trying to become an actress. I really enjoyed that it was about her LIFE and all of the interesting roles she’s done rather than it just being about Gilmore Girls. I was nervous that it was going to be, so thank goodness for that! I really enjoyed her section on Parenthood, while I haven’t watched Parenthood, it was interesting to see how she grew from the show and that she met her significant other that way (spoiler if you didn’t know). I also enjoyed all aspects of her relationship with her dad and the fact that as I was reading it, I could hear her voice through the pages. Not a voice I made up but her, I could hear her writing and talking out loud while she wrote everything she wanted us to know.

Overall it was a fun, light hearted read. Not that I want to compare but I enjoyed Yes Please by Amy Poehler more, there was something about her life. I still remember her section on a career. At the time I was in a bad place with my job and she reminded me that a career is a career but the people you come home to are what matters. I didn’t get that kind of feel from Lauren Graham, but that’s okay. It was still a nice, fun, quick read….great for the beach!
