Hadley Mountain was the second hike we’ve done as New Yorkers. We were looking for a short hike on a Saturday afternoon and google, well, was google and gave me the idea. If you live in the Saratoga area, it will be about a 50min drive, if you’re in Lake George it will be closer to 20mins.
The hike is 1.8 miles one way. While it’s a short hike, it’s good to warn you that it’s an elevation of 1500ft in that timeframe, so once you start, it’s an uphill battle. We weren’t expecting this so it took us a little longer than usual for a hike like this– about an hour. It’s a nice half day hike, we went up in the morning, had lunch then came back down.
It’s also the beginning of the Adirondacks too but on a clear day like the one we had you could see the Berkshires, Adirondacks, Catskills and Green Mountains, especially when looking from the Tower. A little history on this Tower, it’s 100 years old! Can you believe it? I almost climbed to the top but you knows, nerves got the best of me. Anyway, it’s one of the first towers ever in the Adirondacks and it still stands which is pretty impressive.
I would definitely recommend looking up Hadley if you’re in the area, it was a great hike, with a great view. We saw multiple families hiking too so it can be a family affair if you have kids.
