Mermaid

Currently Watching: New Girl (again and again and again)

Author: Carolyn Turgeon

Synopsis: A twist on the classic fairytale. Princess Lenia wishes to be able to be a human — she has a fascination of the world above. But when she rescues a human from a wreckage, she is determined to become human for him. Meanwhile Princess Margrethe has been in hiding while her land fights the southern land. While in hiding she meets a man that she thinks could help bring peace to her lands.

MermaidReview: Other than Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid is my favorite classic tale so I was really excited to read this. But I ended up being pretty disappointed with it. While I enjoyed Lenia, I couldn’t get behind Margrethe, while she claims she was doing everything for kingdom– she was really doing everything on a selfish level. The love triangle was a little too much for me too. One thing I did like was that Lenia becomes human by a mermaid that isn’t evil. Other than that though, meh…I could have done with something more interesting…or maybe just the normal Little Mermaid.
