Three Dark Crowns #1

Synopsis: Katharine, Arsinoe, and Mirabella are triplet sisters who are Queens in their own right. At least for now, but when they turn 16 they will fight for the crown with only one surviving. Each are supposed to have a “talent” that they will use to become the top Queen. But one seems stronger than the other and it will be up to everyone else to help keep their Queen not only alive but strong.

Three Dark Crowns (Three Dark Crowns, #1)

Review: I was really excited to read Three Dark Crowns, I loved the story synopsis but I have to say I was a little disappointed. Did anyone else think this story was really slow? This was definitely the start to everything type novel — there wasn’t a ton of drama, it was getting to know the Queens and their most loyal friendships. So let’s talk a bit about the characters — I really liked Katharine and Arsinoe, for some reason they were really interesting and I felt myself rooting for them. I also really likes the complicated character of Pietyr and I’m really interested to see where his story goes. I also really enjoyed Billy — the mainlander adds a nice twist to the story. But again, while it was dark and had a lot of politics I wasn’t overly impressed with the story. The ending though was good enough for me to want to read the next one but… will probably be a library rental instead of a purchase.

What did you guys think? Have you read the next one? Is there more excitement? Comment below 🙂
