Favorite Book Quotes: July 2018

Since July had a lot going on in my personal life, there are only three quotes for you this month from books read. These were some of my favorite — I hope it gives you a reason to pick them up (Spoiler: I wasn’t a huge fan of The Little Paris Bookshop).
“Caring was a thing with claws. It sank them in, and didn’t let go. Caring hurt more than a knife to the leg, more than a few broken ribs, more than anything that bled or broke and healed again. Caring didn’t break you clean. It was a bone that didn’t set, a cut that wouldn’t close.”
V.E. Schwab, A Conjuring of Light
“Everyone thinks I have a death wish, you know? But I don’t want to die – dying is easy. No, I want to live, but getting close to death is the only way to feel alive. And once you do, it makes you realize that everything you were actually doing before wasn’t actually living. It was just making do. Call me crazy, but I think we do the best living when the stakes are high.”
V.E. Schwab, A Gathering of Shadows
“Books are more than doctors, of course. Some novels are loving, lifelong companions; some give you a clip around the ear; others are friends who wrap you in warm towels when you’ve got those autumn blues. And some…well, some are pink candy floss that tingles in your brain for three seconds and leaves a blissful voice. Like a short, torrid love affair.”
Nina George, The Little Paris Bookshop
