I can’t believe it’s only been 2 weeks since I got back from Iceland. Everything has gone by so fast since then, it doesn’t feel real.
There’s a lot to do in Iceland. We were there for 6 days and while I didn’t see everything, I definitely have certain things I would recommend everyone seeing or going to at least once while you’re on you’re trip.
1. Faxi Waterfall
Faxi Waterfall is a must and lesser known Waterfall in the Golden Circle. By the way, across the street from this waterfall are some Icelandic ponies so you get a two for one here!
2. Cafe Loki
The food at Cafe Loki is just amazing, and you might even run into a little cat that likes to keep you company there! Right at the heart of Reykjavik, this cafe is perfect for a sweet treat or a large lunch. Prices are reasonable too, we went there not once but twice during our short stay.
3. Öxarárfoss Trailhead
I really enjoyed Öxarárfoss Trailhead. Near the Golden Circle, this trailhead has everything, a waterfall, a walkway that will remind you of Lord of The Rings or Game of Thrones and a gorgeous view from the top of the trail. It’s a must but be prepared this is a tourist attraction so expect to see a lot of people (PS — there is also a little gift shop for you too).
The Southern Coast was our favorite of Iceland and Vik just adds to the reason, not only will you see the black sand beaches and cute churches but you can end up at the ice cave restaurant for lunch. If you have time, you can catch a tour up to a glacier to go in an ice cave (one I wish we got to do).
5. Skogafoss Waterfall
Last but certainly not least is Skogafoss Waterfall which is on your way to Vik. It’s that Waterfall you see all over Instagram — in fact, I’m surprised it’s not the most photographed place in the whole country. But be ready to get a little wet if you want to get close to the fall, it’s powerful and you can feel the mist instantly.
These are the 5 Places in Iceland that I visited and found the most meaningful. In the next couple of weeks you will see more posts on Iceland, including My Entire Vacation, What I Packed & How I Saved, Places to go for All Game of Thrones Fans and a post on Everything I Wish I Knew before I went.
